INTERPOL - July 22 - Heaven Nightclub

I don't do sleeping in. Even if ive been out to 4am the previous night I will still wake up at 8-9am. As soon as Im awake i have to get up and do something.

Ok so Friday night was the Interpol concert at Heaven nightclub. We (Me, David, Sara and Caly) got to Heaven about 30mins early which was a good call. Was in the line for a fair while Toby and Courtney rocked up, I was heaps nervous for some reason but this went away after a while. Went in, headed straight to the merch tables. I picked up a rad Black Interpol tshirt wanted to get two but only had enough bread for one. Me Sara and Caly proceeded to pick out a good vantage point which was in the middle of heaven infront of the elevated .... blah blah details schmetails..

The first band Snowman sucked balls. They were all good at what they were playing but its just what they were playing wasnt even music, it was shit. Some ok riffs but there was nothing to this band. No rythm no lyrics worthwile of taking note of. They were from Perth. My friend David reckons all bands from perth suck and I am tending to believe that maybe this is the case. In watching them I got nothing at all from them, gave me the impression that to be in a band in perth all you have to do is act energetic and do the band image thing? Im talking crap but this is something I was thinking while watching them.

Anywho.. after what seemed to be an eternity Interpol entered the stage. The crowd went nuts. As soon as they started playing I knew I was in for a treat. The sound was awesome in this place.. the drums were so clear and bassy, the guitars perfect and everything sounded like it did on the cd but only louder and much richer. I cannot remember the exact setlist and order but they played most of the hits. Slow Hands, PDA, Stella was a Diver, Narc, Evil, Not even Jail, Say hello to the angels.. Out of all the songs I liked Say hello to the angels the best and its now my new fav by them.. was wiked live.. so energetic bouncy hauntingly cool. They came back out and did 2 more songs at the end. Oh and in the song PDA it was kool in the middle song at the pause they stopped playing as if the song was over and tuned guitars and watnot... was sick.. u knew the rest was coming just not sure when, then they started up again and was rad. After every song Paul Banks lead singer would say "Thank you" in a cool unconcerned old skool sounding voice. It was wiked.. they played a great show and they all seemed so comfortable.. cool... relaxed... and modest too, not pretentios or full of themselves which only made me like them more. Throughout the whole show I could not stop myself from smiling it was rad and especially in say hello to the angels.. couldnt help but move to that song.. wow so cool it hurt. Paul Banks seemed to move slowly and operated in a wavelength of cool i have not beared witness to in quite a while.

Overall best show Ive ever been to .. loving it.. if you ever get the chance to see Interpol live.. snap it up.

Picture of Interpol from where I was standing. Taken with my shitty Sony Ericsson T610.

Things I thought while driving home tonight

If i hear another rapper or person talk about being "up in the club" im going to vomit.

I hate songs that start off with the drummer clicking his sticks together to count in the song. That really pisses me off.

I do however like it when im walking down the road and a car drives past and its windows are down and its blaring full volume some form of ethnic music that you would not hear anywhere.

I am affected somehow when the moon is full. I think its got something to do with intuition and being intuitive but I have not looked further into this. It heightens my intuitiveness I have noticed when the moon is full.

I went to avcon last Sunday and saw two episodes of this anime called "Paranoia Agent" It was really really good especially the first episode I saw. About this popular boy who is good at everything and it really eggagerates how he talks to himself in his head and how he feels things heaps acutely and when he perceives something as bad the image gets all distorted to show his bad feelings about situations. It is really good and I want to get every episode. Found it on isohunt but its was like 2.5gb to download ep1-13 so screw that. Will look in JB's which is what Sam recommended.

Also really want to download this band "Death from above 1979" that ive heard about.

Been thinking of creating a folder in my directory to put cool flash animation in. And why not, its just the same as pictures but better. Daniel has done just this on his computer and its wiked for showing people your favourite flash animations. My fav flash animation is "Salad Fingers 5: The picnic"

Anyway thats enough random garb speak.

Missy Elliott

Got the new Missy Elliott cd tonight. Its pretty good.

The first single from it "Lose Control" is good. Saw it on video hits today and the film clip is awesome. The song itself has this fresh sample in it which makes the song sound futuristic (kinda).

Check out the "lose control" video clip on the missy elliott website: http://www.missy-elliott.com/

Found this in opshop today

I found Thriller on vinyl in an opshop today. The vinyl is in excellent condition and it even came with the poster advertised on the front cover, and wats more the poster is in perfect condition. Thriller sounds really good on vinyl. Was so happy when I found this.

Track Pants

Whenever I go out in my track pants i always tie the drawstring together as if this transforms my track pants into a more appropriate item of clothing for going out in.

Polaroid II

Heres my second shot with my Polaroid Camera (Polaroid 1200 FF)

I wanted to take a photo of a subject which I associate with polaroid cameras, the 80's therefore the Human League. Im loving the rawness and simplicity of the polaroid experience and the bottom part of the polaroid where you can write a "caption"... WRITE with your hands... handwriting.. icing on the cake.. Adds a whole new element to the polaroid.

Oh i messed up this photo because for some stupid reason i thought the photos developed best in heat and so i turned on my fan heater and put it in front of that. Bad move :( .. After looking it up on the net www.polaroid.com i found out that it develops best at room temperature. Oh well its all part of the learning curve i guess.

You know your unfit when....

You run half way up your street and back. You cannot breathe for 10 minutes afterwards. You walk inside your house. Your vision is blurry. You lie down on your bed but feel sick. You proceed to run to the toilet and vomit up the can of red bull and packet of barbeque pringles you ate for lunch today.

I really need to excersize more. Vomiting after a 2 minute jog is not a good sign. Less junk food, more fruit and veg, no soda pop or energy drinks.. strictly water. Go for runs at night. Heck play more DDR, use the DDR mat you bought off of the net for a change.

In other news I just installed Service Pack 2 on my computer so that I could get this USB Bluetooth dongle to work, to transfer pics and midis to my T610. Oh and Ive decided to systematically choose what i listen to so that I can get my audioscrobbler page looking like I want.

Are there no good free download midi sites on the net anymore with actual NEW midi files.. for free???? If anyone knows of any please let me know, im in need.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 minutes after posting this i stumbled across a pretty good free midi's site. It's pretty up to date and the midis are pretty good quality, as far as midi's go anyway :)

Chatter

Got lots of sleep last night and read a book. Woke up half an hour early than usual. It was good waking up earlier than normal, seemed like I had time to kill/chill. Will try to do that tonight again. I got Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins so im reading that.

Wavelenghts are kool. Its nice when you find people and things you think are on the same wavelength as you. Theres a connection. I seem to fit the wavelength of a skater, even though now I work full time I dont skate any more. The clothes skaters wear are always dope, im like yep that looks so good.. on the ball. whenever i see skate vids they always have as songs music that i love and listen to. Last time i walked into Daily Grind i heard the Smiths - Handsome Devil on a skate vid.. got me pumped was like this is my favouritest song ever.. Also skateboard mags dammit are the best read/look ever, the articles are the best i love reading them because the writing style is so conversational and smart and dumb at the same time. Skating is very visual.
