Realisation

Holy!, after the writing of my last post I come across this quote that pretty much sums me and my stance on things up in a sentence.

Benjamin Disraeli
"How much easier it is to be critical than to be correct."

Its so much easier for me to be critical about things than to take a stance or be correct. Finding this quote at any other time I would have overlooked it but after writing my last post this makes total sense and hits home hard.

More quotes from Benhamin Disraeli

Your grandchild will grow up thinking he is "different"

Some useless information. Saw Scary Movie 4 last night, I have loved all 3 previous scary movies but this one was lame. The best bit was the Tom Cruise/Oprah interview satire right at the end, that cracked me up... oh and this other scene where the main girl is cleaning this catatonic old lady and isn't looking and cleans her from her bedpan full of piss. gold. But for the main part it was boring.

Went to Transmission at the Duke of Yorke on Friday with Toby, Courtney, Steve and Toby's cool friend. Was really good!!. Walked in and they were playing a Maximo Park song. They were lots of hipsters and few people with really cool shoes. Seemed like lots of hipsters who didn't even care about the songs being played. People with oh so "now" haircuts and black dress shoes. Looking out from under there modern indie disguise with frontish hiding eyes, look at me, I am clearly the coolest, hippest person in Adelaide.. right.. right? You can tell I'm ahead of the pack. Smile. Friendliness yeah? Yes it looks cool, but then again sometimes too much "look" disgusting, especially if its combined with an unsupported arrogance. Unsupported by lack of musical knowledge, interest and enthusiasm etc. Yes enthusiasm for a genre, what are your motives for your look. Music, the music. If its all your look and you don't like the music then gross. But then again how can one tell what someone likes/dislikes, just cos they werent out there dancing like a madman i guess doesnt mean they arent enjoying it.

Its apparent as I write this that Im in one of those for/against moods where things spark disgust then I go about arguing both sides then at the end I have gotten no where. Making a stand, final judgement on something is scary. Cos everone has a different view and focus on things. Anything said on here is personal opinion only which is of course limited by my meager Adelaidian life experiences/views/beliefs and focuses. This blog is an outlet as I find it easier to write down these views then to talk about them with someone as I cannot always organise my words or may be focusing on the persons interest instead. I can go over something i write down (re-read and make edits), if i blurt out the first thing i think, then thats it.. that thing i blurt out will be taken as final but no it is not final just part of the process of forming an overall idea/opinion. Visual thinker? Pictures stronger then linguistical words and flair for language. Sometimes hard to sentence a complex interwoven picture of impressions, feelings, ideas and unconclusions. Words fail me sometimes. It's the whole thing where you have good strenghts in one area but on the other hand equal weaknesses in others.

Back to Transmission...There were 3 dj's rotating, 2 were shit, but one of the dj's, Dj Ross was great!!!... Mad shouts!! every single song he played i like.. even played The Knife - Heartbeats which was great. So yes, will definately be going back there next month. Other bands played were Interpol, The Smiths, The Walkmen, The Presets, The Subways, Libertines.. and many more good bands I cannot summon from my weekended brain dead head.

I don't know why i just wrote those things, who cares, why write this on a blog. I am giving nothing with this information, nothing. Oh but wait, I shall give you this gift, download this song its a great song from "Thunderbirds are Now!" - its either called Safari or Eat this City, not sure as I have 2 files with the same name. Get it from here (right click, save link as). P.S. If anyone knows where I can find the new Thunderbirds are Now! album can you please let me know. I've been told its on indietorrents.com but that's invite only :(

Another good band I stumbled across is "The Valentinos".. great.

Critical, critical of other people and things.. mostly critical of myself. This criticalness means I care about things? Care enough to have an opinion? not sure. On the one hand being critical with things it gives u the mentality that mostly everything is crap and the rare gems (music, people) you do find you loooove and hold close to you. On the other hand criticalness holds you back and often puts yourself in negative moods. I find that I often am too critical and second guess how i write, speak, act when in reality mostly no one cares or notices much anyway. So many subtleties out there, I want to grasp, to own, to know. I could ramble and debate these things on here and just go round in circles.

You know when ur moody or pissed at yourself so you automatically act a way that promotes a certain response. I think this is happening right now. I think that we have total control over everything in our lives but fool ourselves otherwise, our motives whether direct or under the surface are always there and controlled but us. We are creating our outcomes with every act/decision we make. Love thinking about things like this.

I need more information, about everything. Black and White.. ugggghhhh, i am not a black and white person. Mostly things are not set in stone, YES, NO, "this is how it is" thinking stifles creativity, new ways of thinking and the POSSIBILITES. Need to explore the black and white mindset tho as there has got to be great advantages to this way of thinking/life. We all work from our desired functioning, what we see best serves us, reassessing is good.

Return of the 90's

Im sticking by my prediction of a 90's revival comback. 90's dance and hip hop and generally alot of things from the 90's are coming back again. The evidence keeps coming at me from all directions. Trust me, I am wired to notice these things. This is the direction things are heading now. Expect it. Intuitive hunches don't come much bigger than this.

Preview of things to come:
Air Max 90's
bondedorole
CrazyFads - 90's
90's Slang
I love the 90's <-- This is a great website if you want to take a look at what you will be seeing more of.
Blog about this dudes dreaded return of the 90's
Clothes of the 90's
The 1990s in popular culture is typically referred to as the decade of "anti-fashion". In reality, anti-fashion was only one of many trends in fashion in the 1990s; however the fashion of the 1990s was characterized by a rejection of the fashion of the 1980s. The fashion of the 1990s was also characterized by many overlapping, often contradictory trends. The most significant event in 1990s fashion was the rise of grunge fashion in 1992. In the late 1990s there was a move away from grunge. Retro clothing inspired by the 1960s and 1970s was popular for much of the 1990s.
- From: 1990's Time Period in Fashion History

If you are into 90's dance and live in Adelaide, you can tune into Fresh FM - 92.7FM weekdays from 12-1 they have a show called "back in the day" which plays great 90's dance! <-- Thanks Steve

This 90's trend will start as all trends do and the sort of material we will see coming back will be the very early 90's material 90's dance sounds etc. To jump straight back into 94 with its f'd up undercuts and grunge would not be accepted, so it will start with early 90's then as people get more attuned and comfortable it will move to mid 90's.
At first it will be funny, people will sport 90's haircuts to be funny, then they will become accepted and then cool.

90's grooves are also gettin more play in hip hop, princes new album you can hear it. You can hear it in Tiga's rhyming.

Get up, get out, I am personally going to explore this prediction a lot more as I have to whenever I get such a strong hunch as this. Time to watch "Clueless" and other 90's dvds for a little rehashing cool spotting.

The dominant clothing fad at the beginning of the 1990s was fluorescent clothing. The five fluorescent colours were fluorescent blue, fluorescent green, fluorescent orange, fluorescent pink, and fluorescent yellow. Fluorescent clothing was especially popular with teenage and pre-teen girls, although some boys wore fluorescent t-shirts. Fluorescent clothing items included fluorescent t-shirts, fluorescent sweatshirts, fluorescent socks, fluorescent shoelaces, fluorescent hair scrunchies, and fluorescent fanny packs.
- reference

Fluro is so coming back soon, i assure you.

90's Songs to get:

SNAP - Rhythm is a Dancer
KWS - Please Don't Go
La Bouche - Mr Vain
KLF - 3AM Eternal
CC Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)
Charles and Eddie - Would I Lie to You

If you are on the lookout for the new/next trend get yourself a Hypercolour teeshirt before they are reissued and they will be reissued, the general population takes longer to catch on but get one now. Ok so this is kinda more late 80's than 90's but I want to stress that it will be early 90's that will reapper first.

Also Plaid flanel shirts. I don't mean to sound racist or generalise a race but Asians are so ahead of the crowd when it comes to fashion. I have noticed Asian youth doing the plaid flanel shirts and plaid and its looks so good. So yep plaid will also make an appearance. Following the grunge look.

Dude!, I am so right in this prediction. You will see.
Yeah Right! As If! Freak Out! Junk. Tight. Word. Deal.

You know that short Stabbing highly distorted guitar sound dshhzzz dshzzz this sound will be highly used. So will cow bells and up front bass lines. Also Deep voiced raps will doesnt have to be deep voiced but raps will definately get more play.

This is what I do daily, monitor the cool, new (rehashed). It may sound lame and shallow or whatever to be so interested in trends and fashion but If one is inclined to be energised via this avenue then it is not shallow as its not based on wanting other peoples approval but stems from ones own interest in this area. Haha. I hate mainstream fashion mostly, well the standard clubbing attire sported by pretty boys and a lot of guys with no brains. They have no idea about fashion and what looks cool.

So yes, lookout the 90's are coming back dude.

The Furlong Haircut - coming soon to a shopping mall near you

That is all for now, when I pinpoint another look or style from the 90's I shall blog it. Cya

New Music First Listen Rundowns

Downloaded the new Prince album - 3121 yesterday. Kate from work was telling me that she read that it was supposed to be some outstanding piece of work comparible to his earlier works of genius. On listening I like it, there are 3 songs after first listens that I really, really like, 1 song that you need to download. My favourite 3 songs from 3121 are "Black Sweat", "Fury" and "Lolita", other songs are also good but these are the ones that stood out to me. Fury is the song you should download now, its great. Im not the hugest fan of "Funk" and a lot of princes grooves and moods but this song whilst it does have a funk sound to it I like for some reason. The synths are great and once again Prince melds synths, lead guitars, and a great beat (groove). So yep get this song.

Also got the Vines new album "Vision Valley" last night, its pretty good, most songs are fairly mellow which i am not a huge fan off as it does nothing for me. But there are a few songs that stand out as good on this one, these being "Don't listen to the radio", "gross out", "fuck yeh" and some others I cant remember the name of.

I feel so blank today, my head is empty and I need to get out and do something. I stayed home last night and watched trailer park boys episodes then fell asleep and then this morning have just been doing nothing pretty much, it sucks. When alone doing nothing I always feel like Im wasting time, should be doing something productive.. I don't get that thing where people can be alone and just relax and like renew their energy from the quiet. I get agitated. This is not to say I don't think, I think stacks but all my thinking is always inspired by something. Being alone = no inspiration. Was thinking of driving into the city and walking around and getting inspired by things in magazines or going to the city library and picking up a book on some random topic and learning a bit about it.
Anything, just getting outta the house pretty much.

"Van She - Kelly" Film Clip

Im in love with youtube, so easy to put videos on the blog.

I heard of Van She a while ago I think in Monster Children or from the Modular People website. Driving to work yesterday I hear the song Kelly from the Sydney group Van She and I was caught up in the sound. Sure its a rehash band with obvious stylings from post punk, 80's synth, pop sensibilities what have you, but even still Its catchy and nice and further more if anyone has any mp3s of them can you please send them my way or I will have to buy the EP.

Heres the film clip:

Emails that suck!

You would have received emails like this before. You know the ones which say things like "If this picture doesnt make you smile, you have no heart".. or "if you delete this email you will have bad luck for the next month"... or "if you forward this email on to ten people your true love will fall in love with you"... bottom line these emails suck...why do people forward them on? Is everyone really that dumb? Do people really get sucked into the childish tactics exhibited in these emails which "pull at your heart strings" or make you "feel" something?
I hate getting these emails. They are worse than spam.

The subject being "FW: Please do not delete - this is for a good cause."
The subject itself shouts out "fake".
Here is the image that was attached to the message. Grade A top choice shite.

This type of email makes me mad and I usually reply back with something like "please don't send me any more emails like this ever again, these are dumb, pathetic and your an idiot for forwarding it". But today I decided to retaliate via Photoshop.
Here is my edited version:

These type of emails must be stopped!! Im looking at you Yeresa!

I have a dream

That one day I can create something as absolutely awesome as "KLF". KLF are it. Here's some KLF film clips. 1990's style lets bring it back people.

KLF - Last Train To Trancentral

KLF - 3am Eternal

When I get my computer back from Getright hopefully tonight I have decided to play more of the greatest artists of all time, these include:

KLF
Bomfunk Mc's
Depeche Mode
Bis - Eurodisco

Im thinking im going to get into 90's dance in a big way, hey why not 90's dance rules. 90's dance, if you were a 90's dance head back in 90 please fill me in on the artists I neeed to listen to, I will find them and collect them all eventually its just your input would speed up the process. If you want to know what's going to be big in the next couple of years I will tell you right now. Saxaphones will get more play eventually, indie bands will jump on the bandwaggon and you should hear more of this instrument appearing in songs and pop songs etc etc. Also 90's dance sounds will be thrown into the indie mix. At first saxaphones and 90's dance sounds will be used jokingly as is the way of all major trends and how they begin, then it will become "cool" to use sax. First its humorous, after the humour buzz it becomes acceptable, and then likable. The emotional switch in peoples heads of how they see amusing things such as saxaphone and happy pants and undercuts are numbed from the reframing with humour and then after this, it can become "cool" again.
Trendsetters skip this humour phase and go straight for the "cool". The wheel it turns. What once was, will be again. With advancements in technology and access to audio and visuals this recycled phase of past day trends is sped up. Awareness shifts occur at a much more rapid rate than it did in our parents days.

Pasta bakes will get more play in homes, People will wise up to the benefits of a healthier lifestyle and dogs will grow larger genetalia to adapt to modern infrastructure and company downsizing. Bert Newton will quit television then return with a new gameshow about a year later.
