When Humans Become Cartoons

"We don't know how it happens, it just does", was Dr.Samuel Goodwin's reply when asked the question, "Why do humans sometimes turn into cartoons?". Its a question which has plagued man since the dawn of time.

The latest report was of a middle-aged Australian man.
"I still can't believe it", says his wife Marilyn, "Just this morning he was eating breakfast with us, now he's a cartoon... I just .... I just don't know how this happens....*tear runs down her face*"

Echo Image

I found a really good band tonight called Echo Image.

This is totally on my musical wave-length:
Our sound is energetic, melodic and modern with a touch of the 80s. We have tried to combine catchy synth-pop refrains with a more modern feel to it.

About Echo Image:
Norwegian synthpop band. The band unofficially started in 1997 when Pål Magnus Rybom started experimenting with electronic music. Later that year Fredrik Hansen joined and Echo Image was officially formed with Trine Bilet joining towards the end of the year providing backing vocals and keyboards. Bilet is featured on the front cover of the Endless Day EP.

Dr. Phil Says

I just read the funniest thing on a last.fm forum

Dr. Phil Says

Deadpan Satire

While showering this morning i realised what my favourite genre of comedy is.. its Deadpan Satire. For ages I have thought that my favourite genre of comedy is intelligent stupidity which is pretty much what Deadpan Satire is.

Comedy I would class as deadpan satire:

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place
This show is the king of all deadpan satires. This is so funny on so many levels. It satirises 80's movies in how it is shot, cheap FX, doctors it satirises everything. It is delivered Dead Pan. So funny.

Trailer Park Boys
Deadpan totally serious delivery satirising if that is a word, trailer park life. Whenever I don't have enough money to have dinner i watch trailer park boys and immediately feel very well off.

Robocop
Delivered as deadpan, its a satire of the 80's at the time where success, power and money where popular. The tv adverts in Robocop & Robocop 2 blow my mind, they are soo funny.

Daria
Satire of modern society from a thinking person's perspective - deadpan delivery by Daria. Silliness also especially in character of Daria's dad, Jake Morgendorfer.

Tom Green
Tom Green goes over most peoples heads. He is genius. He is deadpan/silly satire, he plays on the standard 9-5 worker views of most people especially in freddy got fingered. His deadpan delivery of wacky/sick/disgusting/get a reaction humour hits the spot for me. He basically preys and gets off on normal people who immediately see his stupid antics and interpret this as this guys an idiot... no the thing is, if this is your reaction - you are the idiot.

Grand Theft Auto
The grand theft auto series of video games is great satire. Especially the radio stations. So funny.

Fast Forward
Was great at satire they did it so well in a more authentic way than all pissweak sketch comedies have failed at since the end of fast forward. Deadpan yes, often silly though.

Sean Micalleff
Is definately dead pan which i love, satire sometimes.. but mostly silly.

I want to class South Park as deadpan satire but its the deadpan that i dont feel comfortable labeling south park with. South Park can be deadpan but it is equally as silly/ridiculous as it is deadpan. It is totally a satire on modern societies messed up views on things. I love how south park expose common opinions/ideas/views as fake and deliver this from the point of view of a child (and a child is always honest)

Here's a good definition of satire:
Satire
In satire, a situation containing a violation is presented without any explicit acknowledgement of the existence of the violation(s). The violations are presented deadpan, as though there were no violation at all, so that the reader must detect or miss the violation on her own, actively using her own moral conscience. Those readers that do detect the violation may find it hilarious, because of the humorous structure: a moral violation is juxtaposed simultaneously with the deadpan view of the situation in which it appears normal or unremarkable. The special feature of satire, however, is that the deadpan presentation is given to an implied audience of readers or listeners who do not detect the violation. The inability of this audience to detect moral violations is itself a moral violation, since people believe that normal people can and should tell right from wrong; this further violation contributes additional complexity to the humor, making it even more funny.

My second favourite comedic genre would be well executed Silly.

Comedies which come under this category for me are:

South Park
The Mighty Boosh
Little Brittain
The Fast Show
The IT Crowd
The Naked Gun Series
Jim Carrey movies - most
Flying High 1&2
Something About Mary
Ben Stiller movies
UK Comedies do silly and bizarre so well.. Fawlty towers though I HATE with a passion, nothing is funny about that. It's very old skool humour.

Theres so many comedies/comedians i can't think of right now.
Comment if you can think of other peopel/shows/movies who do deadpan satire well.

No Post Subject - Just Thoughts about stuff

My computer keeps locking up, cannot use mouse, keyboard, everything just freezes :( Real annoying, im thinking it could be software related, well im hoping it is as my new computer is only 2 months old. Im thinking it could be Azareus as everytime i have noticed it has frozen i have been running Azareus, or it could be soulseek? I don't really know, im testing now by not running Azareus and so far it has not frozen.

Last night had a dream about driving down the road, the road was all wet and icy, i had to brake behind a car but my car kept on going and i smashed into the persons car infront of me. Dreams where i damage my car in some way freak me out. I have them whenever in the previous day i like check my tires and they look like they need rotating or something.

Another sleep related boredom, i keep waking up with a totally dead arm as i tend to sleep on my arm. Will wake up in the middle of the night and for a couple of seconds I swear my arm is screwed, ill never be able to use it again.. i get up quickly and shake the blood back into my arm. Its really cool feeling my dead arm when its dead cos i am touching it in third person mode, feeling what someone else feels, from outside my perspective as i can't feel my fingers touching it.

Finally found Kavinsky mp3's online, had to buy them for $10 for ep. Worth every cent.

I'm gonna try to stop asking cliche questions to new people because I have noticed I hate it when people ask me questions along the lines of... so, what do you do? whats been happening? For starters when asked what job i do, to the standard normal uninformed person this is met with .. oh your a computer geek, some typical standard label/judgement is made in there head and from there on my impression has been set in stone. I have given up trying to convince someone otherwise.
I know these questions and the purpose they serve, to initiate conversation open up discussion to other things etc and i won't really show annoyance at these things if you do ask me something like this, i just cringe inside. I don't like discussing things like this on this level, unemotional, factual, detached, common perspective conversations... ewww. cringe. Its pretty standard that this is the way you are supposed to do things, cliche's certain openings.. alot of the time i think people who love this sort of banter are kinda conservative, not really very emotional, more directed and run by their head and judgements about things. Immediately it sorta creates a barrier between me and a person like this. Need to try and change this.

At transmission the other night i said hi to this guy i have seen on myspace.. haha... i think he added me, so thought that if i said hi, he would know me and wouldnt be AS weird. It kinda was weird tho, i said hey man.. ive seen your myspace page..haha... and then he was kinda laughing about that and how he was just talking to his friend (who i also recognised from myspace) about that.
We totally live in a time where you can go to a club in adelaide (insert your city) and look around and actually know people from looking on myspace pages. It's kinda cool, as you think you know something about the person. Making the world a smaller place.

In making lyrics for songs if you want the song to be a hit you have to avoid any lyrics which deal with a negative emotion, it should deal with an emotional topic we all feel. Maybe I need to blog more with this in mind, less negative, more positive sorta thing. Haha.. bring u down, bring u down to china town. Read and be depressed.
I don't really blog about "topics" much which is what successfull blogs do, unless the topic is say a really good band or movie or something like that. Themed, no.

Sometimes when im searching for a particular recipe in a recipe book instead of looking for the table of contents or reference section at the back i scan through the pages until i find it, then i pretend that destiny has brought me too this page and that it was meant to be that i make pancakes.

Really old people are pretty much like little kids, except seem less judgemental, usually have good morals and have all this experience and understanding about things.
I would really like to watch a tv show which is basically really, really old people talking about important life lessons that they had to learn. Pretty much we are all learning life lessons, if something is always going wrong for us, there is a lesson that we must learn in order to move one. This would be both funny and educational on so many levels. I want to start a tv station that has true, real, relevant and informative shows. Shows which give local people a chance, no adverts and i should have total control over content. It would be totally out of the box, creative, nothing like it ever done before. The focus would be on real. You tune in and actually get something from it, as apposed to being totally dumbed down. The world would be a much better place if this happened.

Fight For Love got played in a club

Friday night Dj Ross played my song, Fight For Love at Transmission - The Duke of York, Adelaide. It was rad to hear loud over good speakers. The Bass and Vocals sounded rather loud on it so will have to tweak them. Was so excited when it started playing, it was surreal. Thank you Thank you Thank you for playing it Dj Ross. You Rule.
