Lately: Music, Clothing, Television, Web Articles

It seems I am in the mood for blogging tonight.
This shall be my 3rd post of the night.

Music

I am really, really LOVING the new Cribs album, "Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever"

I liked a few songs off of their last album, namely "Another Number" and "Mirror Kisses" but every single song off of the new album (bar one or two) is fantastic.
The lead singer's voice/singing whatever, (I can't explain myself well tonight) has gotten much better... haha much better, case in point. As much as I pick on people for using cliches out of context I use them a fair bit myself.
Anyway, definately download the new Cribs album, "Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever" it is fantastic, poppy, indie and so damned catchy. I cannot get enough of it at the moment.

My favourite tracks from the album are:

1. Men's Needs
2. Our Bovine Public
3. Girls Like Mystery
4. I'm A Realist

All songs are good though, if you liked their last album then you definately should download this one.

Another song I have been loving lately is this song "Chris & Cosey - Walking Through Heaven"
It crept up on me, it is industrial sounding, kinda minimal i guess, straight out of 1984. I will probably be sick of it in a few days but for now it is enjoyable.

Clothing

I have not bought an item of clothing in a very long time.
I remember when I was working at Coles as a teenager, I would get a new item of clothing every week!
I have like 1 pair of jeans which I wear pretty much every day because all my other ones are too baggy and I no longer like them.
I saw these Lee jeans the other day and I think I will get them this Friday night.
Can't wait to have 2 pairs of jeans to rotate between so I can stop feeling like such a dirty slob.

I love them, the colour, the fit, lee jeans are great. They are kinda expensive but kinda worth it. They are more blue in real life.

Next thing I saw is this Nike Jacket.

I don't know if I would wear it or not as it is white. I have never really owned a white jacket before, it seems kinda ... uh I dunno. There were 2 other colourways in this jacket. So good.

So yeah, I was going to get 2 500gb Hard Drives this weekend (1 external cased, 1 for inside my comp to replace dying one) but I think I will sacrifice 1 HDD for these jeans. I can always get the HDD at a later date.
If you are ever looking for a hard drive (Australia) then the best place to get them is MSY Computers. At the time of writing you can get a 500gb computer for $179AUD! Their website sucks though.

Television

I am so addicted to "The Office (US Version)".

It is brilliant and soooo funny. I am currently watching Season 3.
The characters are great.
There are so many people out there who bag the U.S. version of The Office who are going by the first two or so episodes and I used to be one of them; until my friend Karl told me how good it becomes and to give it a second chance.
Once you get past the first few initial episodes in Season One which do not work because they are pretty much word for word, same plot as U.K. (but without the subtle, understated english delivery) version and the plot and characters get to develop into their own it is great!
Dwight, the "Gareth" character is the best.
Michael Scott, the Boss is great.
All the characters I love.
Watch it.

I keep meaning to post my "Recently Loved Web Article" links at the bottom of my blog posts but always forget. These are web articles which I have read recently and enjoyed, they are generated by feeddigest and my "shared" tags RSS feed on del.icio.us. I want to try and do this from now on as I love seeing these links at the bottom of feeds I read and because it makes each post fixed in time so to speak. I can look back on a previous post and see what sort of articles I was enjoying a year ago for example.

Pictures I Like

If you click them, they will enlarge.

Dial-Up Changes Everything

My internet has been cut back to dial-up like speeds due to going over my monthly downloads quota.

Whilst looking at a Sneaker Freaker feed, these images started to load.... OMG these.... shoes.... are....amazing........ neeed... these...... then they continued loading and I was sorely disappointed. The tops of these shoes as they loaded looked amazing. Best shoes ever I thought.

Here are the tops of the shoes:

Not nearly as good as the tops of the shoes hinted at.

Observer

The red flames in this, the clearness of the shot, the black uniforms, despite the smiles this scene making me feel like an outsider, the green hills, blue cloudy skies. Yes, great image.

Taking Mental Notes

This picture literally makes me hard. The night shot with bright lights, the blue of the building in the background. Most of all the see-through opacity of the skater. Brilliant idea, brilliantly executed A+ Excellent Work. If I was a photographer I would blatantly rip off this idea. Even the way they layed out the text in this image is great.

Seeing More

Take one thing and make it into another thing by means of adding something to it. I LOVE this kind of stuff. It is smart, imaginative, it is the adding to the "speeding, what's your excuse", it is adding an i to the words "to let", it is drawing mustaches on women in a newspaper. I don't know what you call this.

Stops My Brain

I am drawn to this picture, it captivates me. I can stare at this for minutes. It is like a complex song which streams information at such a speed that it can not be consciously processed, only the awareness of something deeper going on remains.

Icon

I came across this picture and others like it, in this style whilst searching for "icons". I love this for some reason that I cannot put my finger on. I want to replicate this. The circle behind the head is amazing, so simple but speaks in volumes. The distant gaze, the smybology of the crosses. The garment. The elongated forehead.

Neuroscience

The colours, the brain, wow.

I hate trying to explain why I like something, I feel like a wine critic, using wank words like "hedonistic undertones" or something.

That's all for now, may post others at a later stage.

I now have ADSL 2+ Yesssssss!

ROARRRRRRRRRRR!

I came home form work today and noticed an email from my Internet Provider informing me that my phone line has now been provisioned to support ADSL2+ which I had upgraded to last month but was just waiting until my line was provisioned to make use of. Yessssssssssss! 3x the speed. This rules.

Videos = Instant, No buffering
MySpace Music = Instant Streaming
Websites = Instant Loading

The only thing is I have already used 82% of my allowed downloads for this month and still have 20d 6hrs to go.

I have decided to add "Recently Loved Web Articles" links to the bottom of my blog posts. These links will be dynamically generated using the great service, "FeedDigest" and my del.icio.us shared tag's rss feed. The only thing is that because it is generated from an rss feed every single blog post will have the same links, all the time so if someone browsed to a January 2006 post they would see my most recent, recently loved web articles. I'd love them to stay static, generated at the time of posting but I don't know If I can do this. Hang on, maybe it will do this. hmmmmm. time to test.

Interesting Fact

At three minutes and four seconds after 2 AM on the 6th of May this
year, the time and date will be 02:03:04 05/06/07
