I Love Temptation

Lately I have developed a very nerdy obsession with the weeknightly quiz game show Temptation.

Temptation is what "Sale of the century" became. It is shown on channel 9 at 7:00pm Monday to Friday, although it usually starts some time around 7:07 because "A Current Affair" runs late and I guess channel 9 think they can be lazy like that.

I have always liked Temptation and Sale of the Century but it is only recently that I have been waiting, longing for 7:00pm to come so I can sit down and watch it. I don't miss a show now. Here are some reasons why I love the show so much:

Trivia
I love to learn and also to test what I already know. It makes me feel good when I get questions correct. Whenever I do not know an answer, I make sure to store it to memory so I know it for the future.

The Contestants
More often then not the contestants on Temptation are pretty smart. Often with smart comes awkwardness/eccentricity. I love to see awkwardness/eccentricity, it makes me really happy. It is the same reason I am drawn to zany 80's movies with over the top eccentric characters that you just don't get these days in movies. I love observing smart people and especially how they relate/don't relate with the hosts, Ed and Lavinia. Gold.

Last night as a way to explore the show more I decided to note down every detail about the show, how many questions were asked, where the sprints are, where the giftshops come in, how much the amount won on the vault was and where the money was placed on the famous faces board. I have watched the show many many times but noting all of this down gives me ownership and a deeper appreciation of the show. After noting this data down, I now know that round one starts with 3 questions followed by a sprint comprised of 5 question, a trip to the giftshop for the contestant with the most money, 2 more questions and then a famous face question which gives that contestant who gets the famous face question right first a pick of the board and a chance to win up to $25 or other amounts of money/prizes.

I created a Temptation Stat Sheet in Word yesterday so I would be able to print it out before every show and record how many questions I answered correctly and as a way to maintain my personal best which I can try to beat each show.

Temptation Stat Sheet

Here is a PDF version of my Temptation stat sheet.
Click here to download the PDF

Now you can have the pleasure of printing this out, tuning it to the show, 7pm weeknights on Channel Nine (Adelaide Viewers) and marking your progress.

I used it tonight and it was really fun :) However, tonight I did really bad and scored a dismal amount of correctly answered questions which I will easily destroy tomorrow.

I went to "Toys'R'Us" today to get the Temptation board game but was saddened when I saw that it required a minimum of 3 players as I guess one person would have to read out the questions.

Today is a Public Holiday

I slept on my arm last night and today woke up with a sore arm. I usually sleep on my arm and it is usually fine.
My insides and the roof of my mouth are hurting this morning. I ate a large mexican pizza and 1 garlic damper with pepperoni last night and I must of ate too much hot.

Today is a public holiday for the Queens Birthday.

Australia (except Western Australia, which has a Foundation Day a week earlier), has the Official Birthday on the second Monday in June and observes it as a public holiday.

I wish my calendar told me how old she is/was turning this year, it would give the holiday more validity in my head I think. The current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, was born on 21 April 1926. This means she is 81. The average life expectancy of people in the United Kingdom is 77.6 so congratulations Elizabeth on exceeding this age. Queen Elizabeth was born on the 21st of April, this means that she is a Taurus.

Here are some characteristics of people who are Taurus (April 20 to May 20)
  • They are more than averagely amorous and sensually self-conscious, but sexually straightforward and not given to experiment.
  • Physically they will be inclined to have a rounded shape, which will be most noticeable of their shoulders, and this is particularly the case if they are female.
  • Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac and associated with material pleasure.
  • Mentally, they are keen-witted and practical more often than intellectual, but apt to become fixed in their opinions through their preference for following accepted and reliable patterns of experience.

Words used to describe Taurus
Stubborn, cautious, materialistic, conventional, persistent, stable, industrious, sensual, dependable and placid.

Other Famous Taurus
* William Shakespeare (23 April 1564)
* Adolf Hitler (20 April 1889)
* Michelle Pfeiffer (29 April 1957)
* David Beckham (02 May 1975)

I think there is certainly something to Astrological Descriptions. There are observable similarities with people who are born under the same sign. I do not understand why this would be the case though.

It's nice to have a day off for the Queen's birthday. I love that birthdays are celebrated. It is so fun. It is a favourable custom and the rules are clear.

It is customary in many cultures to celebrate the anniversary of one's birthday, for example by having a birthday party with family and/or friends. Gifts are often given to the person celebrating the birthday. It is also customary to treat people specially on their birthday, either generally acceding to their wishes, or subjecting them to a rite of transition.

Celebrating birthdays is a very old custom. Ancient people did not know the exact day of their birth, yet measured time by using the moon and the seasons. As humans began to learn more about the earth's natural time gage, calendars were developed. Calendars made it easy for people to keep track of and celebrate important events each year. Birthdays were some of the special events that people noted on their calendars.

The most common birthday in the USA is October 5, whereas the least common birthday is May 22.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays, considering their origins to be pagan festivals along with Christmas and Easter.

My feet are getting cold and I should really shower and have breakfast now.
