That's Interesting

Writing this from the comfort of my bed... yessssss!

Letterman on the corner tv.

MacBook Pro

It makes me happy every day. It is my best purchase this year by far. Here are some things I can do now that I have a MacBook Pro:

- Go to Adelaide library and surf the net for free
- Whilst reading a book (esp. computer book which mentions website URLs) can keep the laptop next to me and flip open when wanting to check link out.
- Surf the internet on the toilet (so great).
- Chat to your mum with my iSight
- Chat to Daniel with my iSight via iChat
- Watch tv + surf the net
- Take photos of myself with the iSight
- Warm my lap
- Learn PHP anywhere anytime
- Scan all my books/cd's/games with my iSight using Delicious Library
- Watch any movie/listen to any mp3 that is on my PC, wirelessly via home network
- Plug into my tv and watch any video from my pc or on my MacBook Pro
- Write wanky lists about my MacBook Pro
- iTunes picking up shared Librarys
- Use spaces/dashboard/expose

Needless to say I am extremely happy with my MacBook Pro. In the future my next machine will be a Mac and I will recommend them to anyone who is "in the market".

Oh oh oh, I was talking to Reece today and mentioned that I did not have a working mac copy of Dreamweaver and he linked me to CODA (The website is great too).
I got a copy tonight and LOVE it, it is amazing for web development, it is the Mac web development solution that I had been looking for, love it.

Also on a related "Mac Software" note, I have been meaning to for a while install PHP and MySQL on my Mac and tonight I found this all in one solution called, "MAMP", which is an acronym for "Mac Apache MySQL PHP. I installed this tonight and it works great. It is a free 127MB download. To install, download and run the .dmg and drag it into your "Applications" and it is all installed. Then all you do is drag your website/php files into the htdocs/ folder and wala! It also comes with a Dashboard widget for turning Apache/MySQL off/on.

Good Mac Softare/Articles
Here is a list of Mac software/articles that I have collected since getting my mac.

Movember

My "moustache" is getting to the point where it is starting to itch during the day. When it gets itchy I feel the need to itch it which only exacerbates the problem.
Here is a pic courtesy of "Photo Book".

I can't wait until the end of November.

Words That Annoy Me

Interesting

Main Entry:
in·ter·est·ing
Pronunciation:ˈin-t(ə-)rəs-tiŋ; ˈin-tə-ˌres-, ˈin-ˌtres-; ˈin-tərs-\
Function:
adjective
Description: holding the attention : arousing interest
— in·ter·est·ing·ness noun

Used correctly interesting is a great word. The thing that pisses me off is when this word is used as filler. So many people say it as a filler, it is very commonplace. I think one of the reasons that I don't like this word used as filler is that it is confusing, a nothing word.. hmmmm.. interesting.. What do you mean? Also it is often said in a tone of voice that conveys the opposite of interesting... slo-mo... innnnterrrressstingggg... booorrrrrreeeedddd..... sooorrrrrrryyyyyy... If something is really interesting you would usually say the word fast not slow, like. Wow, that is really interesting. Another thing which annoys me when it is said and not meant is that it is said, "interesting", but then there are no follow up questions about the subject which is apparently arousing interest.

Waking Up

Some days I wake up and I will have a particular word in my head. It will repeat over and over and over until I acknowledge it. Today's word was "Sherpa".

Sherpa

Pronunciation:
\ˈsher-pə, ˈshər-\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
of Tibetan origin; akin to Tibetan (Central dialects) shārba, shārpo easterner, Sherpa
Date:
1847

: a member of a Tibetan people living on the high southern slopes of the Himalayas in eastern Nepal and known for providing support for foreign trekkers and mountain climbers

Some other days and this has been happening more and more lately, I will wake up and will have been dreaming about solving a complex problem. This problem will be the same each night until I figure it out. Sometimes I will wake up and only have solved 3/4 of the problem and be bummed out. Yesterday I think I solved the problem and was so excited! On waking up I forgot what the problem even was!

Sometimes It is some abstract programming task and at other times it will be a more practical problem.

I always wake up mentally tired after problem solving dreams.

Movember

I am doing stupid Movember with people at work. This is my progress so far:

Movember is stupid

I feel so dirty, so unclean.
